Keele University Halls of Residence

Keele University halls of residence are located mainly within the campus itself, The Hawthorns though remain just outside the campus in the village of Keele itself.

70% of full-time students are accommadated in the Halls and many staff are also resident.

Each Hall has a student-run Council that organises a range of events including balls, discos, films and sport. Halls also have their own welfare systems: Resident Tutors (usually a postgraduate student) live in each Hall and are responsible for the welfare of students living there. Resident Tutors are on call throughout the night and weekend.

All Halls other than the Hawthorns boast a launderette and shared kitchens.

Barnes Hall

Barnes Hall has no M block (it has A-L and N-X), this coupled with the large clear area adjacent to L block helped an urban legend about Barnes Hall to develop. The myth is that M block sank into the ground due to an abandoned mine tunnel, this is only partially true - the block became unsafe due to subsidence and was demolished.

Barnes Hall is located on the north of the campus and lies close to the leisure centre, Medical School and the A525.

Lindsay Hall
Lindsay is made up of Lindsay Court, and Lindsay Halls. Lindsay Court is a square shaped building with a courtyard in the middle. It is comprised solely of En suite rooms. Lindsay Halls is the name given to the older buildings to the East of Lindsay Court. These are comprised of blocks and have shared bathroom facilities. The Lindsay area is located at the south of the campus. Within the area is Lindsay Cafe Bar and Lindsay Court. There is also a laundrette behind the bar. This serves The Oaks, Holly Cross and the whole of Lindsay. The buildings are located close to the lecture buildings at the heart of the campus.

Holly Cross and The Oaks
The two Halls are located to the west of Lindsay Hall, the rooms are en suite.

Horwood Hall

Horwood Hall lies to the east of the campus, it is a large campus and also contains staff flats and staff housing within its area; including Springwood Staff Housing. The Halls lies to the north of the lakes and Keele Hall with the directly to the west.

The Hawthorns
