Rob Oates was elected to the Caldwell City Council in November 2003. A 5th generation Idahoan, Oates was raised in Caldwell, Idaho and graduated from Caldwell High in 1974. He received his Bachelor degree in business Management from the University of Idaho in 1978.
Rob was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army and served as an officer in tanks and helicopter test pilot & project engineer for 10 years, leaving the Army as a Major. After work in technology jobs in cities on the East coast, Oates and his family returned to Caldwell in 1997. In Boise, Oates was senior systems analyst for Sears for 5 years & has been a contract technical trainer & web application developer since.
Rob has been involved in community service as President of the Caldwell Band Boosters. Rob was the Data Manager for the Idaho Women's Fitness Celebration for 6 years Rob also is an Elder in the Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church in Caldwell. Rob is the State Chair for the Libertarian Party of Idaho.
