Comfort Keepers provides non-medical, in-home care for adults and seniors. It is an international franchise system with locally owned and operated franchise offices, and is headquartered in Dayton, Ohio. History In 1998, registered nurse Kris Clum and husband Jerry Clum, Jr. launched Comfort Keepers in Dayton, OH. In August 2009, France-based Sodexo acquired Comfort Keepers, which expanded the franchise-based business. In August 2015, Comfort Keepers chose ClearCare, a home care software company, as a preferred platform. Comfort Keepers is currently an international franchise, with franchises located throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, France, Ireland, Portugal, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. As of December 2015, Comfort Keepers has 648 locations in the United States and 99 locations internationally. Operations Comfort Keepers operates off of a franchise business model. Franchisees have access to an internal financing program and are trained by Comfort Keepers. Local caregivers are hired by franchise owners, and travel to clients' homes to provide care services and living assistance. Social issues Comfort Keepers works with the National Football League Alumni to provide discounted services for at home care to former players, coaches, and others with ties to the game. Recognition In 2016, Comfort Keepers was ranked #7 by Forbes as a "Top Franchise to Buy" in the lowest investment category. In 2007 Comfort Keepers was named by INC. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing franchise systems in the United States. Franchise Research Institute rated them a “World Class Franchise” in May 2009. They were listed in the “Top 200” by Franchise Times in October 2009.
