Petsitting.com is a website connecting pet owners with professional pet service providers. The site allows pet owners to search for pet care providers close to where they live, and is free for the consumer. The service simplifies the process of finding an established, reliable and trustworthy professional to care for dogs, cats and other pets. Services currently offered include: dog walking, pet sitting, pet boarding, pet grooming, dog daycare, pet waste removal, dog training and pet insurance.
The site was launched in 2010 by its parent company, Dice Solutions LLC. It is the sister site to another web company created by Dice Solutions, Localdogwalker.com. As of October 2010 Petsitting.com works with pet services providers across most of the major metropolitan areas around the United States and branched off into Canada in the summer of 2010.
Services
Petsitting.com does not provide any direct pet care services, but rather refers consumers to local pet service providers. The company contracts only with insured and bonded service providers where applicable and does not charge a fee for pet owners to use its services.
Petsitting.com contracts with local providers of pet services in many locations throughout the United States and Canada. These pet sitters typically go to a client's home while he or she is away for the primary purpose of taking care of the client's pets, inclusive of feeding, administering any medication, walking, playing or simply accompanying the pet for an allotted period of time. Related services include doggie daycare facilities, which offer short-term pet sitting services at an outside location (similar to children's daycare) and pet boarders or pet hotels, which will take in pets for a longer term.
In addition to these services, Petsitting.com contracts with dog walking, dog training, pet grooming and pet waste removal providers.
Partnerships
The site offers pet insurance underwritten by and in partnership with the Jeffersonville, Indiana-based PetFirst Healthcare. Through its web site Mypetfirstinsurance.com, Petsitting.com offers a preferred pet insurance program for dogs and cats between eight weeks and nine years old. Coverage for older dogs and cats is available as well.
Petsitting.com also contracts with DoodyCalls, a nationwide Virginia-based firm, for animal waste removal services. DoodyCalls is a franchise-based business with 40 locations in 21 states as of October 2010. In January 2011 the company partnered with Camp Bow Wow, the largest pet services company in the United States.
Other partners with Petsitting.com include Amber Alert for Pets, an association of pet owners dedicated to finding lost pets, PetCareRx and PetSmart.
Commercial insurance services
As Petsitting.com requires all of its service providers to be bonded and carry commercial general liability insurance, the site also offers an insurance referral service to prospective service providers. To that end, Petsitting.com works with the Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based Business Insurers of the Carolinas, an agency and insurance brokerage which contracts with several major commercial insurance carriers. Membership in the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) or Pet Sitters International is required for coverage consideration.
