Colin Moriarty

Colin Moriarty (born October 14, 1984) is an American video game journalist and podcast host. He was formerly the Senior Editor at IGN, and the co-host alongside Greg Miller of Podcast Beyond, IGN's PlayStation podcast. With Miller, he founded the YouTube channel Kinda Funny which produces shows such as The GameOverGreggy Show and A Conversation with Colin. Moriarty received his B.A. in History from Northeastern University and is a registered member of the American Republican Party.
Early life
Moriarty was born in Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York on October 15, 1984. He is the youngest of four children with an older brother, Dagan, and two older sisters, Dana and Ali. He is an avid sports fan, loyally following the professional teams that represent his home, especially the New York Islanders and the New York Jets. A hockey fan from an early age, Moriarty grew up playing in youth leagues, where he played as goalie. He would eventually go on to attend Northeastern University where he received a degree in American History. He originally planned to continue his education and receive a doctorate, but instead moved to San Francisco, California to work for IGN.
Career
Moriarty got his start in the video game industry by writing strategy guides for GameFAQs under the name "CMoriarty". This led to freelance work for IGN in 2002, where Colin wrote strategy guides for the site at a rate of $200 per guide. Moriarty claims he wrote the strategy guides mostly because he enjoyed writing them, not because he was receiving money. In 2007, at age 22, Moriarty received a job offer to work at IGN's San Francisco headquarters, and he promptly accepted the offer to begin working for the website. He was IGN's senior PlayStation editor, and was a co-host of the PlayStation-centric podcast, "Podcast Beyond". One of Moriarty's most significant works of writing for IGN is The History Of Naughty Dog, an academic piece chronicling the history of the award-winning game developer. Moriarty is also a regular panel member on "The GameOverGreggy Show", a video podcast on YouTube co-created by friend and co-worker Greg Miller. On Miller's channel, Moriarty has featured in many videos, including the show "A Conversation with Colin", which features video discussion between himself and Miller with topics submitted by the audience.
