Kinda Funny originally consisted of a couple YouTube series uploaded to Greg Miller's YouTube channel beginning in August 2012 with Gettys, Greg Miller, Colin Moriarty, and Nick Scarpino. The title of the company wouldn't be adopted until September 2014. Gettys and Scarpino worked behind the camera as the production crew for series such as A Conversation with Colin and Oreo Oration. Gettys was not known as a personality in front of the camera for this channel until December 2013 with the launch of the podcast, The GameOverGreggy Show. Gettys quickly drew the attention of many viewers due to his slick style, expansive pop culture knowledge, and presenting of such topics as which Disney princess each member would prefer to have intercourse with.
Kinda Funny gained it's name when the four founders launched an ongoing crowdfunding campaign on Patreon. The immense success that resulted from this lead to the Kinda Funny crew deciding on leaving their jobs at IGN and pursuing Kinda Funny full-time. They left officially on January 5th, 2015 with the commencement of their second YouTube channel and Patreon, Kinda Funny Games. This allowed them to expand with new shows like Colin and Greg LIVE and Kinda Funny Gamescast, the latter of which Gettys hosts. Since then, Kinda Funny has gone on to produce a myriad of new shows, host a live event, and attend many gaming related conventions (most of which they have had a panel at).
