Chaya Ratan

M. Chaya Ratan (born 26 January 1953 ; Andhra Pradesh, India) is an Indian politician and a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. She is contesting for the 16th Lok Sabha of India from the Secunderabad constituency of Andhra Pradesh and is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) political party.
Chaya Ratan is a 1977 batch IAS officer. She succeeded B. P. Acharya as the Home Secretary of Andhra Pradesh in February 2012. She was moved from the post of Special chief secretary (Women Development & Child Welfare) to the Home Department (Jails & Fire) after Acharya's arrest in a corruption case. In October 2012, she and two other officers protested against the appointment of the junior officer M Samuel as the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA). She and her colleagues claimed that the state had humiliated an 'upright officer' like her by giving important posts to her juniors multiple times.
