Hemant Kumar P. Y. (born 16 January 1967) is a founder member of the kisan movement (raitha chaluvali) in Karnataka lead by Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha since 1980. Currently he is the state convener of Bharathiya Kisan Utkarsha Samithi which is a part of KCC (Kisan Coordination Committee), a confederation of the farmer’s movements across India. He has extensively worked on devolution of power which resulted in decentralizing the State powers. He also believes in planned urban development and infrastructure development in tier-II and tier-III habitation, he has contributed for JnNURM program, conservation of bio-diversity, water bodies and environmental equilibrium. Politics Hemant Kumar is a candidate for the Aam Aadmi Party in the 2014 Indian general election. See Also
