Bruce Van De Velde

Bruce Edward Van De Velde (b. 25 August 1955 in Sterling, Illinois) is the Deputy Athletics Director-Chief Operating Office at Louisiana Tech University. He oversees a department that sponsors 16 sports for men and women that compete at the NCAA Division 1A level in the Western Athletic Conference.
The former Athletic Director at Iowa State University and Utah State University, he received the General Robert R. Neyland Outstanding Athletic Director Award from the All-American Football Foundation for lifetime achievement and contributions to intercollegiate athletics in 2005. He was also an Admiral U.S. Grant Sharp Award Recipient for the 1995 Holiday Bowl as an individual who best exemplified the spirit of unselfish dedication and teamwork. Van De Velde is best known for hiring Head Basketball Coach Stew Morrill at Utah State University, and for serving on Bill Snyder’s staff with current Head Coaches Bob Stoops, Mike Stoops, Mark Mangino, and Jim Leavitt.
He is a graduate of Iowa State University (1982) and the University of Iowa (1991).
