Behzad Fatahi (born May 2, 1978) is an Iranian-Australian academic and an Assistant Professor at University of Technology, Sydney. He is internationally known for his research in the area of Green Corridors for Transportation Infrastructure and bioengineering. He has developed a novel model considering the coupled flow-deformation equations in soil to simulate influence of native vegetation of railway and road formation. Currently he is an Assistant Professor of Geotechnical and Railway Engineering. He has published extensively in the area of ground improvement and bioengineering using native vegetation. He has over 25 peer-reviewed publications, and >30 invited presentations. He received his PhD in Civil/Geotechnical/Railway Engineering at University of Wollongong and his undergraduate in civil engineering at University of Tehran. In 2007, Behzad was named the Young Railway Engineer of Australasia for his research into how railway infrastructure can be improved by identifying and managing surrounding vegetation, refuting the age-old belief that vegetation is detrimental to railway tracks.
