Beaty Towers

Robert Calder Beaty Towers built in 1967 are twin towers on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, in the United States. The facilities are located on Museum Road, and next to Sorority Row. The two housing units are named after Robert Calder Beaty who was assistant dean of students and who taught sociology. They were constructed by the Edward M. Fleming Construction Company, at a cost of USD3.25 millions and to a desigh by Forrest Kelly, and formally dedicated on 1971-06-12. They are capable of housing 787 students, and have a convenience store, a telephone service office, and a student commons area.
Beaty Tower's area government is called TAG, which stands for Towers Area Government. They provide programming and fun activities for residents in Beaty Towers in order to build community. There are three buildings that make up Beaty. Beaty Towers East and Beaty Towers West are the names of the two towers, Beaty East has 13 floors and Beaty West has 14 floors. The third building is the Beaty's Common. Beaty's commons contains the area desk which is open 24 hours and residents use this to pick up packages, get keys in case they get locked out, or check out equipment for the rec room. In addition there is a rec room which contains pool tables, ping pong tables and foosball. There is also a large screen TV in the TV room. In addition to the recreation rooms there is also a study room. Finally, attached to the commons is Beaty Market which is open till 4am everyday. It a small convient store which is open to anyone who wants a quick bite to eat.
