Anthony Cavit

Anthony Cavit (born 1947) LL.B (1970) (Auck) is an Australian lawyer. He was a Crown Prosecutor and a Magistrate in the Magistrates Court of the Northern Territory.
Early life
Cavit spent his childhood in Auckland, New Zealand and was educated at . He studied law at the University of Auckland and in the 1970's went to Australia. He practised at the independent bar in the Northern Territory and was one of the early members of the Northern Territory Bar.
Public service
Cavit was first employed by the Department of Law in January 1980. He was engaged in duties in the Prosecution Unit of that Department. From April 1983 he was given the power to sign indictments for offences against Northern Territory law and therefore carried out the functions of a Crown prosecutor. On 5 March 1985 he was appointed as a Stipendiary Magistrate.
