Another Earth is a film co-written and directed by Mike Cahill, who also directed the 2007 documentary Boxers and Ballerinas. Another Earth is a science fiction movie about the discovery of a parallel universe. This movie was filmed in Connecticut. Scenes were shot in numerous different parts of the state, including different parts of New Haven, a local home in Hamden, and a scene was filmed at the high school in West Haven. Director Mike Cahill relies on strong dialogue and storytelling rather than using flashy special effects. He uses a technique called verite to capture real moments. Verite often involves handheld cameras and realistic dialogue. The style is reminiscent of the kind of techniques used in documentary making.
