Matthew Degnan is a English writer and film director best known for his work in the horror genre. Degnan became a little known writer in 2008 with the publication of two short stories, Green Lights and Boris Hilton. He has published four short stories in total. Writing Career Degnan began his career as a crime writer but quickly changed to writing horror and sci-fi stories after reading several works by Stephen King who became his biggest influence in writing. He wrote several short stories that were published in a small local newspaper to acclaim (one of which was crime fiction). After the success of these stories Degnan met several writers, similar to him, and together they now make independant films together in the Kingston Upon Hull area. Degnan wrote a novella in 2008 called Images of Michael', but was rejected by pulishers. He is currently working on a novel which is a mix of Horror and Drama about the life of an extra-ordinary man. Directing In 2008 Degnan and his friends produced the independant film, Holton Hill, which tells the story of a couple who are stalked by a killer in a small town. The film was a non-profit piece that gained acclaim by several critics for its witty dialogue and clever direction. The film was written and directed by Degnan. Degnan is currently working on another independant film, only of short, called Believe in Rapture which is a crime film about a man who is hiding from a hitman. The film is set for release in June-July 2009. It is currently in Pre-Production with Degnan set to direct, edit and porvide the music score. It was written in just 2 hours on 14th January 2009.
