Amos Raviv

Dr. Amos Raviv (1954) started his professional career as a manager of a number of business firms and corporations. He served as an account executive in "Avnet Carmon Shifrin Naaman" advertising firm and later on was the magazine sections of the newspaper "Ha’aretz". Dr. Raviv then opened and managed a family business for advertising and signage that for 15 years established an array of projects at the "Ben Gurion" International Airport, many of the hospitals in Israel as well as dozens of shopping malls and businesses.
Management companies and corporations
Dr. Raviv was the general manager of the port of Jaffa for three years and led the process of privatization of the port. As a result of his extensive knowledge about marinas, Dr. Raviv was elected secretary of The International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) and held that position for five years. During this period he began his Ph.D. studies at "Ben Gurion" University at the Departments of Industrial Engineering and Management and the Department of Business Administration. In 2006 Amos Raviv received his doctorate with a dissertation presentation titled "Development of a strategic model to increase the profitability of marinas worldwide."
Board of directors
The vast experience accumulated by Dr. Raviv as the secretary of ICOMIA, led to positions on the boards of several private and public companies. At the Shipping and Ports Authority (S&PA), Dr. Raviv served as Acting Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Development Committee that budgeted large-scale projects such as the acquisition of double-decker trains and the establishment of new Jubilee Port in Ashdod.
Academic Teaching
Throughout the years of activity in the business world, Dr. Raviv also held teaching positions at Ben Gurion University, Bar Ilan University and at the Israeli branch of the University of Derby. After completing his public positions, in 1995, Dr. Raviv focused on teaching and held teaching positions at additional academic institutions such as the Holon Institute of Technology, The Open University, Tel Aviv-Jaffa College, Sapir College and the College of Management in Rishon Lezion.
Dr. Raviv’s main field of research is “business strategy” and the courses that he developed include strategic management, the business strategy, international management, business plan preparation, marketing management, technology management, risk management, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), entrepreneurship and management of mergers and acquisitions.
As part of his academic activities, Dr. Raviv developed curricula, conducted numerous workshops on how to improve the instruction process and continuously participated and presented in international conferences.
