Alpha Theta Sigma

Alpha Theta Sigma, commonly known as Athetas, is an Inter-Collegiate Service Fraternity and Sorority established at the Notre Dame of Dadiangas University in General Santos City, Philippines, last September 11, 2008 by Andrei Linus Villarruz, John Paul Villarruz and Ronald Allan Villarruz to develop leadership, promote friendship and render services to the society as an organization. Along with the Senior Grand Members: Imer Galasinao and Rey Oliver Pasion, the organization will lead the bonafide members to unity and express liberty and equality in beliefs, races and sex.
History
Last 2005, Andrei Linus Villarruz came to General Santos City, Philippines, in order to study Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation in Mindanao Polytechnic College. He joined Asophians; Alpha-Sigma Omega Phi Inter-Collegiate Serice Fraternity and Sorority (Theta Sigma Chapter) and became a Grand Chancellor. After two years, his brothers Ronald Allan Villarruz and John Paul Villarruz from Roxas City, Capiz, came to General Santos City for a one month vacation and unfortunately decided to stay for good. Andrei and Ronald moved to Davao City to look for jobs. Andrei became a Product Support Representative (call center agent) in Link2support, Ronald was a Marketing Agent in Toyota Davao while John Paul was left behind in General Santos to continue his studies in Notre Dame of Dadiangas University. John Paul had a lot of recruitment offers from other fraternities and couldn’t decide which one to be affiliated with. After a couple of months, Andrei and Ronald went back to General Santos City on their 2 rest days. John Paul talked about the offers he received from other fraternities. Ronald didn’t want John Paul to be involved with any fraternity because of fraternity wars. John Paul was never convinced which led Andrei and Ronald to establish a fraternity. John Paul wanted to be involved as he was given a task to recruit his friends in his present school and in Roxas City. Andrei decided to name the group as Alpha Theta Sigma to give respect to his chapter as being an active member of Asophians.
Andrei and Ronald went back to Davao because of their jobs. Andrei completed all the requirements for the fraternity/sorority on his rest days. In school year 2008-2009, Andrei came back to GenSan City and decided to study Bachelor of Science in Information Technology together with John Paul in Notre Dame of Dadiangas University.
On September 11, 2008, Ronald visited Andrei and John Paul in GenSan City and talked about the plan they had before. They phoned their friends in Manila, Iloilo, Capiz, GenSan and Davao for recruitment. On that same night, Imer Galasinao and Rey Oliver Pasion were recruited by Andrei and became the Senoir Grand Mambers (founding members) of the group. After then, the recruitment never ended. In the year 2008, Alpha Theta Sigma had seven active chapters in General Santos City, Davao City and Roxas City.
Trivia
*Andrei Linus Villarruz (co-founder of Alpha Theta Sigma) is also a an active member of Alpha-Sigma Omega Phi. He was a Theta Sigma Chapter Grand Chancellor.
*Alpha Theta Sigma has no legal affiliations with Alpha-Sigma Omega Phi. Both organizations are allies but with different councils.
