Ali Munif Ashmar

Ali Munif Ashmar () ( 14July1976-21 March 1996) was one of the Lebanese youth who was born in Kuwait in religious family and grew up in South Lebanon. When he was a young man,joined to Hezbollah. After joining to Hezbollah, he did self-sacrifice operation (Istishhad operation)in Israel Army in the vicinity of Adaisseh- Rob Al tlateen cross-road and during this operation two Zionist soldiers were killed and many of them were injured.
Early life
Ali Munif Ashmar was born on the 14th of July, 1976, in Kuwait and was named Ali after a dream that his mother saw about Prince of Believers Ali bin Abi Taleb. His mother died of sickness when Ali was 10 years old. At first his family lived in Kuwait then they moved down to the Southern Suburb of Beirut, Lebanon. He joined the seminary (Hawza) to complete his studies in Islamic theology in 1991. His father took him to mosque when he was a young boy and this had a great effect on his faith and on the path he later chose to take.
Joining the Islamic Resistance and Hezbollah in Lebanon
When Ali was 11 or 12, he became a member of «Kashafat-Al- Imam Mahdi» () (Population of youth and teenagers in the Islamic Resistance)
and became a member of Battalion «Samen-Al-Hojaj» () (Samen-Al-Hojaj is epithet of Imam Reza). When he was 13 years old, joined the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon that is military sector of Hezbollah-officially. Finally he joined to Hezbollah in 1995
He loved very much Imam Husayn ibn Ali. He said in his will:«Peace be upon you my master Imam Husayn (as) and upon his household and friends.
My master: I gave you my pledge to move forward, carrying my blood for the sake of Allah and merging it with the soil of Mount Amel, just like your blood merged with the soil of Holy Karbala.» And he knew Mohammad Hossein Fahmideh as his pattern
The Self-sacrifice Operation
On Wednesday 20/3/96 a Zionist convoy headed from Meskaf Aam and passed through Adaisseh- Rob Al tlateen then moved towards Tayibe Project; meanwhile, Ali was able to enter the area despite all the (precautionary) measures practiced by the Zionists when passing this route was waiting for it to return from the Tayibe Project.
He was able to ambush too close to its path and in the right moment rush upon the convoy and blast himself in it.
The convoy consisted of a number of trucks and few Jeeps which were mounted by commanders. The blast damaged the convoy greatly, leaving lots of casualties especially among the enemy’s ranks.
Zionist sources admitted the killing of a captain and the injury of a soldier. Meanwhile security sources had assured the injury of six soldiers and the death of a captain (Kamal Zeidan 23 years) in the self-sacrifice operation.
These sources pointed at Commander Amiram Leven press conference in which he announced for the first time the arrest of a member of Lahed militia for being suspected of offering help to Hizbollah to implant a bomb near Tayibe.
In his turn, the prime minister of the Zionist cabinet Shimon Perez and short after the operation called on a number of military casualties at Rampam Hospital in Haifa.
On Thursday 21/3/1996 the Secretary General of Hizbollah His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in a press conference announced the name of the hero of the self-sacrifice operation, “Ali Munif Ashmar”.
«He confirmed the Islamic Resistance right to retaliate against the Zionist assaults, launching the equation that later had imposed the balance of terror. He added, “The only way for the enemy to keep safe the Zionist settlements is to keep our civilians and people safe… we in Hizbullah with great pride, self-esteem and courage are responsible for any decision we take in our resistance against the occupation. The battlefield of the occupied line is open to the operations of the Mujahideen…»<ref name="a"/><ref name="e"/>
