Alexander Musashi Burg (born August 9, 1987 in Des Moines, Washington) is a minor league baseball player, who is a free agent. Burg attended Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines, Washington. He played college baseball at Clemson University for the Clemson Tigers baseball team, before he transferred to Washington State University to play for the Washington State Cougars baseball team. Burg was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 24th round (717th overall) of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. Burg plays minor league baseball in the Marlins organization, having spent the entire 2011 and 2012 seasons with the San Jose Giants of the California League, he was signed by the Marlins during Spring Training of 2013. In August, 2013 he was promoted to the Marlins Triple-A affiliate, the New Orleans Zephyrs, of the Pacific Coast League. During the 2011/2012 minor league baseball offseason, he played for the Perth Heat in the Australian Baseball League. While billed as a catcher, Burg has played nearly every position during the season, mostly outfield. Burg received the "Nette Rappe Good Guy Award" two years in a row (2011 & 2012). The award is given by the San Jose Giants to players that "establish themselves as a "Giant" in the community".
