2014 AdvoCare Texas Kickoff

The 2014 AdvoCare Texas Kickoff is the 2nd edition of this event and will feature the Wisconsin Badgers of the Big Ten Conference and the LSU Tigers of the SEC and will be played on August 30, 2014 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. This became official when school officials from the participating teams agreed to play in this kickoff classic on August 23, 2013. LSU leads the series 2-0 winning both ends of a home-and-away in 1971 winning 38-28 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin and 1972 winning 27-7 at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. LSU rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat Wisconsin 28-24.
Game Summary
LSU got off to a slow start as they were forced to punt on their 1st possession of the game. Wisconsin started off hot as Reggie Love had a 45-yd touchdown run to give Wisconsin a 7-0 lead. LSU could not get anything off of their next possession as they were forced to punt again. All Wisconsin got off of their next possession was a Rafael Gaglianone 51-yd Field Goal to give Wisconsin a 10-0 lead. LSU finally did something on their next possession as Anthony Jennings had a 80-yd touchdown pass to Travin Dural to cut the Badgers lead to 10-7. Both teams forced a three-and-out on each other as the 1st Quarter ended with a 10-7 Wisconsin lead.
After Wisconsin was punt on their 1st possession for eh 2nd Quarter and both teams forced a three-and-out on each other's next possessions, Travis Dickson fumbled the ball which was recovered by Michael Caputo. Wisconsin took advantage of that fumble as Melvin Gordon had a 14-yd touchdown run to give Wisconsin a 17-7 lead. LSU was forced to punt on their next possession and then, both teams forced a three-and-out on each others next possessions. LSU forced a three-and-out on Wisconsin's next possession as LSU was forced to punt on their next possession as Wisconsin would have a 17-7 lead at halftime.
Wisconsin got off to a hot 2nd half start as Melvin Gordon would have a 63-yd run which would lead to a Corey Clement 2-yd touchdown run to give Wisconsin a 24-7 lead. LSU would finally do something on their next possession as Colby Delahoussaye would make a 30-yd Field Goal to cut the Badgers lead to 24-10. LSU would keep things going as they forced a three-and-out on Wisconsin's next possession which would be succeeded by a Colby Delahoussaye 47-yd Field Goal to cut the Wisconsin lead to 24-13. LSU would keep the momentum on their side by forcing a three-and-out on Wiscosin's next possession as the 3rd Quarter would end with Wisconsin ahead 24-13.
LSU was finally able to get into the end zone to start off the 4th Quarter as Anthony Jennings would have a 35-yd Touchdown pass to John Diarse and with a Anthony Jennings two-point pass to Trey Quinn successful, Wisconsin's lead would be cut down to 24-21. LSU's defense would keep the momentum on their side as Tanner McEvoy threw an interception which was intercepted by Jalen Mills. LSU would strike almost instantly as Kenny Hilliard would have a 28-yd Touchdown run to take a 28-24 lead. Wisconsin would make an attempt to get the lead back but Tanner McEvoy threw another interception, this time intercepted by Ronald Martin. After LSU was forced to punt on their next possession, they forced a three-and-out on Wisconsin and they were able to get a 1st down to win the game 28-24.
