Word Mystery 3: The Caper of the Compounding Characters

One of several installments in the ComputerSmarts Word Mystery series to be used with the ComputerSmarts Talking Interactive VCR Teaching System. It features two aliens who travel the Earth with their artificially intelligent teacher, learning AbOUT typing, grammar, and sentence structure. In this installment, they learn about compound subjects, compound predicates, paragraph structure, and punctuation. Users are prompted throughout the video to type words or letters as prompted by the characters. At the end, they are scored by the console on their performance.

Plot

The clubhouse lands in a small town where they buy some magazines from a local vendor, Ed Barnes. They use the articles in the magazines to find examples of compound subjects and compound predicates. The bumbling Senator Swell shows up at the clubhouse for a press conference and is followed by tabloid reporter Ruth Less of the Weekly World Rumor. Soon after, superstar Kurt Camera-On shows up to inform them that they are the purchaser of the one millionth copy of Teen Preen Magazine which entitles them to have Kurt film his new music video, "I'm Gonna Sing and Dance and Smile and Look Cute All the Time", at the clubhouse. Then Colonel Bragg comes in to handle security for the visiting senator.
