Vasileios Tholiotis
Vasileios Tholiotis (; born 20 November 2002) is a Greek taekwondo practitioner. Competing in the men's 87 kg division, Tholiotis won bronze medals at the European Taekwondo Championships in 2024 and 2026. He won the gold medal in the 87 kg event at the 2022 European U21 Taekwondo Championships.
Career
Tholiotis represented Greece in international tournaments from the cadet and junior age categories onward. In 2016, he won gold medals in the cadets' 49 kg event at the Greece Open and the Polish Open. In 2017, he won bronze medals at the German Open, Polish Open and Serbia Open in junior categories, and also won the 55 kg event at the Greece Open.
In 2018, he won gold medals in junior categories at the Slovenia Open, Belgian Open, Greece Open and Dracula Open. The same year, he competed in the 55 kg event at the World Junior Taekwondo Championships in Hammamet, Tunisia. He defeated Morocco's Youssef Zair in his opening match, before losing to Japan's Hidetaka Maeda in the round of 16.
In 2019, Tholiotis won the senior 63 kg event at the Multi European Games in Sofia and also took silver in the under-21 category. The same year, he reached the quarter-finals in the 63 kg event at the European U21 Taekwondo Championships in Helsingborg; he defeated Luke Jones and Emircan Turan before losing to Turkey's Ferhat Can Kavurat.
In 2022, he won the gold medal in the 87 kg event at the European U21 Taekwondo Championships held in Tirana, Albania. During the tournament, he defeated Maciej Leporowski, Tama Taputu and Ilya Lipatov to reach the final. In the final, he beat fellow Greek athlete Ioannis Papadopoulos 2–1 to become European U21 champion.
In 2023, Tholiotis competed in the 87 kg event at the 2023 World Taekwondo Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. He defeated Portugal's Manuel Martinho 2–0 in his opening match, before losing 2–0 to Kazakhstan's Smaiyl Duisebay in the round of 16.
In 2024, he won the silver medal in the 87 kg event at the Bulgaria Open in Sofia. At the 2024 European Taekwondo Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia, he won the bronze medal in the same weight class. He defeated Hassan Amer Ali and Erik Farmakas by 2–0 scores to reach the semi-finals, where he lost 2–0 to Turkey's Enbiya Taha Biçer and finished third. The same year, he won the 87 kg event at the European Clubs Championships in Tirana.
In 2025, Tholiotis won gold medals in the 87 kg event at the Serbia Open and Croatia Open, bronze medals at the Bulgaria Open and German Open, and a silver medal at the Albania Open. At the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships in Wuxi, China, he competed in the 87 kg event and was eliminated in his opening match after losing 2–0 to Turkey's Orkun Ateşli. During the same season, he won the silver medal in the +80 kg event at the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge in Bangkok.
In 2026, he won the silver medal in the 87 kg event at the Belgian Open. Later that year, he won the bronze medal in the 87 kg event at the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships held in Munich, Germany. He lost 2–1 to Poland's Szymon Piątkowski in the semi-finals and finished third at the championships.
