Ioannis Papadopulos
Ioannis Papadopoulos (; born 30 July 2004) is a Greek taekwondo practitioner. Competing mainly in the 80 kg division, he won the bronze medal at the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships in Munich, Germany. At under-21 level, he won the silver medal in the 87 kg event at the 2022 European U21 Taekwondo Championships and the bronze medal in the 80 kg event at the 2024 European U21 Taekwondo Championships.
Career
Papadopoulos competed for Greece in the under-21 age category before winning a senior European medal. At the 2022 European U21 Taekwondo Championships in Tirana, Albania, he reached the final of the men's 87 kg event after defeating Taim Othman, Laurentiu Snacov and Lucas Llopis Sánchez. In the final, he lost 2–1 to fellow Greek athlete Vasileios Tholiotis and finished with the silver medal.
In 2024, Papadopoulos won the bronze medal in the men's 80 kg event at the European U21 Taekwondo Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The medal was his second podium finish at the European U21 Championships, following his silver medal in Tirana two years earlier.
In 2025, he represented Greece in the men's 80 kg event at the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships in Wuxi, China. He defeated Pedro Luis Martínez Peralta of the Dominican Republic and Jon Gashi of Kosovo before losing to China's Xiang Qizhang in the quarter-finals.
At the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships in Munich, Papadopoulos competed in the men's 80 kg event. He defeated Portugal's Manuel Martinho in the round of 16 and Iceland's Guðmundur Flóki Sigurjónsson in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals, he lost 2–0 to Ukraine's Kyrylo Hurnov and finished with the bronze medal.
