V. J. John

Vempanolil John John is a New Testament Scholar who was the Vice-President of the scholarly Society for Biblical Studies in India.

John teaches New Testament at the Bishop's College, Kolkata.

Studies

V. J. John pursued post-graduate studies in the discipline of New Testament at the United Theological College, Bengaluru during 1986 to 1988 when E. C. John was the Principal. As part of the post-graduate course, V. J. John submitted a dissertation entitled The Idea of 'World-Foreignness' in the Fourth Gospel: An Examination of the Relation of the Incarnate Logos to the CoSMoS in the Gospel According to Saint John.

V. J. John also pursued doctoral studies at the South Asia Theological Research Institute and was awarded the doctorate by the Senate of Serampore College (University) in its 1999 Convocation based on his doctoral dissertation entitled The ecological vision of Jesus: nature in the parables of Mark : the use of nature images in Mark chapter 4 with special reference to their significance for the ecological concerns.
