Products
VisiCAD is software that assists with emergency-response planning and dispatch.
VisiNet Mobile software transfers data from the dispatch office to an emergency-response team including a map that tracks the position of every fire truck responding to an emergency, improving the situational awareness for firefighters on the scene.
Software glitches
A trio of software issues occurred in Austin, Texas between November 2004 and February 2005. In November 2004, glitches in the software used by the Austin, Texas emergency-response dispatch caused delays in sending and receiving information between the dispatcher and patrol cars, and dispatchers not knowing the location of patrol cars. The company was again criticized for similar issues that occurred on January 14, 2005, when the computer screens at the dispatch office in Austin froze for almost an hour and a half. A third incident occurred later that month on January 30, 2005, when the computers at the dispatch office again froze up. During the outages, dispatchers used pencil and paper to record emergency data. According to Austin city officials, no one had been injured, and no calls were missed as a result of the glitches.
