IQuate
iQuate is a Software company which has its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. Founded in 2002, iQuate develops software to discover and report on what software is deployed on a device (typically a physical or virtual server). This information is often used within Software Asset Management or License Management projects and practices, typically within very large organizations.
iQuate has achieved a number of international "firsts" within its field, and has received a number of notable award nominations.
History
iQuate was founded on May 22nd 2002. iQuate originally traded as eManageIT Ltd. and this is still the legal entity name in Ireland (with iQuate being a registered trading name). Initial Venture Capital funding of €700,000 was reported in the Irish news media in 2004 from EVP.
- Original Products
The initial products were:
- Audit Manager: An inventory tool, great grandfather to the current iQSonar product. This was an agentless Microsoft Windows focused product which gathered data from remote computers and stored that data in web based, hosted database instances with a web based UI - this was known as an "Application Service Provider" or ASP model - a predecessor to the SaaS Cloud software movement of today.
- Network Manager: An agentless near real time (minute by minute) monitoring tool for availability, capacity and performance across multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP/UX, AIX, databases, network devices, etc.
- Name change
In 2004 eManageIT began trading as iQuate as they started selling to the US market. The name change was to avoid a possible conflict with a company which had a product called E Manage (in a non-related space) which was sold in the USA.
The Audit Manager product was renamed iQNetScan and the Network Manager product was renamed iQRMS (Remote Managed Services) when the company renamed.
- Refocus
In 2009 iQuate started to focus on larger companies and released a product called iQSonar. Over time this replaced iQNetScan and iQRMS was retired - leaving iQSonar the sole product of the company.
Primary Product: iQSonar
iQSonar became the primary product of iQuate in 2010. iQSonar is a cross-platform, agentless inventory tool which embodies iQuate's DIME methodology. DIME standard for Discovery, Inventory, Measurement and Extensibility. iQSonar is focused on server and datacenter environments including complex areas for license metrics such as databases and virtualization platforms.
Offices
iQuate has its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. In the USA, a Bay Area office was opened in 2010 in San José, which was replaced with a San Francisco office in April 2012 to facilitate growth. This followed on from iQuate's incorporation in the USA in 2011. iQuate CEO Paul Sutton is based in the San Francisco office. iQuate has a third major office in Sydney, Australia, running their Asia Pacific operation headed by Ian Buddery .

External Recognition
Oracle
In July 2010 iQSonar became the first tool ever verified by Oracle LMS as providing data suitable for use in a license review. The verification means that if customers choose to share data from iQSonar with Oracle's LMS team during a license review Oracle will accept the data as being equivalent to data provided from their own tools.
Microsoft
In July 2011 iQuate was selected as a Finalist for the Software Asset Management Innovation Partner of the Year award for 2011. This award is part of the Microsoft World Partner Conference (WPC) conference. The award is a global partner award and was the first and only time a non-Microsoft inventory software tool was selected as a Finalist. This is notable as Microsoft has tools which are often seen as partially competitive (such as MS SCCM). In reality as SCCM is agent based and focused typically on Microsoft desktops, it is not really a competitive tool.
Irish Software Association
Each year the Irish Software Association holds an awards ceremony - the ISA Awards. iQuate has been nominated in 2010 and 2011. In 2010 iQuate was nominated for Sales Company of the Year and Company of the Year awards. iQuate was selected as runner up in the Company of the Year category - the first time a runner up had ever been announced in that category.
