TransCrypts
TransCrypts is a blockchain-based digital records platform that provides tools for storing, sharing, and verifying personal and professional records.
History
TransCrypts was founded in September 2020 by Zain Zaidi, who serves as chief executive officer, and his cousin Ali Zaheer, who serves as chief technology officer.
The company received initial funding through startup competitions organized by SJSU and UofT entrepreneurship. It raised US$2.4 million (CAD$3.2 million) in its first funding round led by Mark Cuban in January 2023.
Transcrypts initially marketed its product as a tool for human resources professionals to address résumé fraud by using blockchain to create immutable and auditable records, before expanding into income verification for landlords. In 2021, TransCrypts launched a medical records service in collaboration with Doctors Without Borders, aimed at allowing patients in low- and middle-income countries to store their medical records digitally. This decentralized platform is provided at no cost through partnerships with non-profit organizations.
TransCrypts has also worked with grassroots organizations in Ukraine to enable hospitals and refugees to upload, access, and share medical records while the country’s health-care system is affected by the ongoing war. The platform is used by refugees to store and transport medical information, access records via QR codes, and translate them into the language of their host country through a built-in feature.
The company later expanded its medical records initiative to Turkey in response to earthquakes that disrupted hospital services. In cooperation with the city of Adana, TransCrypts’ platform is used to provide patients with access to their verified medical history, which can be shared with their new health-care facilities.
In 2024, TransCrypts was accepted into the Nvidia Inception program, a virtual accelerator for startups. As a participant in the program, the company receives access to Nvidia GPU resources, support for refining its AI models, and networking and market-development opportunities.
The present-day TransCrypts acts as a documentation platform that uses an API-enabled system to connect with existing human resources and payroll databases for income verification forms. It received HIPAA certification in 2025. In that same year, TransCrypts introduced a background check service as an additional product line. Using blockchain technology, TransCrypts breaks files into thousands of pieces or blocks, and stores them on computers around the world.
In October 2025, TransCrypts raised a US$15 million seed funding round led by Pantera Capital, with participation from Lightspeed Faction, Mark Cuban, Alpha Edison, Motley Fool Ventures and Techstars. The company has secured a total of US$18.7 million in funding from investors as at 2025.
