The Blacksmith (wrestler)
Trevor van der Westhuizen, better known by his ring name The Blacksmith, is a South African professional wrestler currently performing for World Wrestling Professionals. He is a former holder of the WWP Alkebulan Heavyweight Title, and is a former 2-time co-holder of the WWP Tag Team World Titles along with The Woodcarver.
Career
After being trained by the UK's Eric Goldsmith as well as his father Mannie van der Westhuizen, The Blacksmith turned professional in 1989. Prior to this he acquired numerous awards in amateur wrestling, including the South African Championship, Coastal Championship, SA Defense Force Championship and Provincial wrestling colours in the Free State and Eastern Province.
Prior to joining WWP in his professional wrestling career, he won the SA Middle Weight Championship and SA Heavy Weight Tag Team Championship (w/ The Woodcarver) in the now-defunct IWF promotion. He wrestled shortly for the Africa Wrestling Alliance using his real name. In WWP, he defeated Thundergod to become the second WWP Alkebulan Heavyweight champion. Teaming with his brother, The Woodcarver, to form The Coalminers, they became the first-ever WWP Tag Team World champions, and later beat Tornado in a handicap match to win it for the second time.
He has wrestled internationally and his adversaries have included Dave Morgan (Germany), Billy Two Eagles (USA), Blackie Boston (England), Mexican Scorpion (Mexico) and Los Mochachos (Puerto Rico).
