Amerigo (cocktail)

Amerigo (cocktail)

Amerigo is a cocktail variation on The Famous Manhattan, named after an Italian explorer who sailed (not only) under Portugese flag, Amerigo Vespucci. However, instead of Martini as a component, it uses tawny porto wine and there are together 3 cocktail cherries used (red, yellow and green; each for one of the voyages Amerigo Vespucci is known to have undertaken, discoveries of Colombia, Trinidad and Patagonia). This drink was first prepared by Ales Kuna, an amateur Czech bartender, in Prague (Czech Republic), 2000 (AbOUT 500 years after Amerigo's last travel). The first version used Amaretto instead of Angostura Bitters.
