Tahir Schon
Syed Tahir Husain, also known as Tahir Schon, born in Karachi, Pakistan on 17th Oct 1956 to a PIA pilot Syed Ather Husain, is one of Pakistan’s leading businessmen. He is the founder and chairman of the Schon Group that encompasses a variety of business interests and holdings from textiles and fertilizers to real estate and financial services.
Tahir Schon is also Honoraray Consul General of The Republic of Gambia in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. He also holds the office of Pakistan Business Council in Dubai as Director & Vice President Legal Affairs and Secretary.
Education
Tahir Schon attended Stanford University in Singapore for under graduation. He completed his post graduation from University of Karachi receiving an M.Sc degree in computer science.
Career
Tahir Schon has made the Schon Group a widely known brand in Pakistan and abroad. Being the brain behind the expansion and development of Schon Group, Tahir Schon has structured the financial hierarchy & is now ranked at the top. He manages operations of all units. Under Tahir Schon’s leadership, the group’s annual turnover in Pakistan reached over Rs. 5 billion. Today some of the group’s companies are ranked among World Economic Forum’s top 1000 companies. Tahir Schon with his brother Nasir Schon ventured into the real estate business and founded Schon Properties which today is ranked among the top real estate developers in the UAE. Schon Properties’ major projects include Dubai Lagoon, Schon Suites, Schon Business Park, The Signet, Libertas & Schon Residences. The Schon family is one of Pakistan’s richest families ranking 6th on Pakistan’s top 10 rich list.
Achievements
Schon Properties won two CNBC Arabian Property Awards 2009 with Dubai Lagoon winning the Best Mixed Use Development and Schon Business Park the Best Office Development.
