Sizzling Pubs
Sizzling Pubs, also known as Sizzling Pub Company, is a British chain of pub restaurants, owned by Mitchells & Butlers (former Bass), that operates mainly as a steakhouse. After Vintage Inns, it is M&B's most populous pub chain.
History
The Sizzling Pub Company was established in 2001, with twelve pubs. By the end of 2001 it had converted 23 other M&B pubs to Sizzling Pubs. By the end of 2002 this had risen to 69, with all being conversions, and by the end of 2003 it was 125. By 2004 the chain had reached 156 outlets.
At the Pub Food Awards 2006 in November 2006, now run by the Morning Advertiser, M&B won Retail Brand of the Year for the Sizzling Pub Company.
In July 2007, M&B opened its 200th Sizzling Pub outlet in Erdington. In 2006, M&B had bought 239 pubs from Whitbread with many being former Beefeater pubs, and had converted twenty of these to Sizzling Pubs. In 2010, M&B had 197 Sizzling Pub outlets.
The chain is part of M&B's Heartland Pubs division.
Sites
The pub chain is part of M&B's Local Pubs division, with Ember Inns, sited in residential areas. The chain is not sited in city centres. Most of the pubs in the chain host pub quizzes.
Conversion of carvery pubs
Around 2016, many former carvery pubs owned by M&B were converted to Sizzling Pubs.
