Sergio Amoedo

Sergio Troitiño Amoedo (born 19 April 2005) is a Spanish taekwondo practitioner. Competing in the men's 87 kg division, Troitiño won the silver medal at the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships. He won gold medals at the European U21 Taekwondo Championships in 2024 and 2025, and a bronze medal at the 2022 World Taekwondo Junior Championships.

Career

Troitiño represented Spain in international tournaments from the junior age categories onward. In 2022, he won gold medals in the juniors' +78 kg event at the Belgian Open, Spanish Open and Multi European Games. The same year, he won the bronze medal in the +78 kg event at the 2022 World Taekwondo Junior Championships held in Sofia, Bulgaria. He defeated Bekarys Nurgazy, Ilya Lipatov and Javlonbek Hakimov to reach the semi-finals, where he lost to Iran's Abolfazl Abbasi Pouya and finished third.

In 2023, Troitiño won gold medals in the 87 kg event at the Polish Open in Warsaw, the Montenegro Open in Podgorica and the Sweden Open in Uppsala. He also won the Balkan Cup in Sarajevo in the same weight class. At the European U21 Taekwondo Championships in Bucharest, he competed in the 87 kg event; he defeated Nikolaos Christou in his opening match before losing to Ukraine's Artem Harbar in the quarter-finals.

In 2024, he won the 87 kg event at the Bulgaria Open in Sofia and the Belgian Open in Lommel. At the 2024 European Taekwondo Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, he competed at senior level in the same weight class. He defeated France's Manuel Pollet 2–0 in his opening match, before losing 2–1 to Turkey's Enbiya Taha Biçer in the quarter-finals and being eliminated. The same year, Troitiño won the gold medal in the 87 kg event at the 2024 European U21 Taekwondo Championships held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the tournament, he defeated Kagan Coşkun, Alejandro Martín Sánchez, Ertuğrul Çelik and Vladislav Budin to reach the final. In the final, he beat Greece's Rafail Ioannis Maretis 2–0 to become European U21 champion. At the end of the season, he won the bronze medal in the +80 kg event at the World Taekwondo Grand Slam Qualification Challenge in Wuxi, China.

In 2025, he won the silver medal in the 87 kg event at the Canada Open in Montreal. At the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge in Charlotte, he competed in the +80 kg event and lost 2–1 to South Korea's Kang Min-woo in his opening match. At the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships in Wuxi, China, he competed in the 87 kg event and was eliminated after losing 2–0 to Jordan's Saleh Elsharabaty in his opening match. The same year, Troitiño reached the quarter-finals in the 87 kg event at the 2025 World U21 Taekwondo Championships held in Nairobi, Kenya, where he lost 2–1 to Iran's Mohammad Alizadeh. In December, he won the gold medal in the 87 kg event at the 2025 European U21 Taekwondo Championships in Pristina, Kosovo. He defeated Ayoub El Arnouki El Makdouri, Aris Stylianidis and Nahil Mehnana by 2–0 scores to reach the final, where he beat Greece's Fotios Dompas 2–0 to win his second consecutive European U21 title.

In 2026, Troitiño won the silver medal in the men's 87 kg event at the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships held in Munich, Germany. He defeated Slovenia's Petar Divković in the round of 16, Refugee Team athlete Kasra Mehdipournejad Abedini in the quarter-finals and Ukraine's Artem Harbar in the semi-finals to reach the final. In the final, he lost 2–0 to Poland's Szymon Piątkowski and finished as European runner-up.

Personal life

Troitiño was born on 19 April 2005 in Marín, in the province of Pontevedra, Spain. His coaches are Miguel Ángel Herranz and Saúl Ríos.
