Selly oak democracy

The Selly Oak Democracy Party is a registered major political party in England. Founded on 8th January 2010, it currently contests only one parliamentary constituency, that of Selly Oak in south Birmingham.

Party members have much greater control over all policies (barring human rights issues), as each policy must be approved in a party-wide referendum.

The party is best known for these frequent referendums which are administered through a unique internet system, making them quick and practical.

Also of note is that membership is free and easy to achieve under the "no barriers to democracy" principle of the party.

Membership has risen sharply since the party was founded. On 22nd February 2010 the party reported membership in excess of 2,000, announcing a target of 20,000 by the May elections which would make it the fourth largest party by membership in England, ahead of the BNP and UKIP.

The party is also known for its anti-racism and specifically anti-BNP stance.
