Saudah Namyalo
Saudah Namyalo is a Ugandan academician, author, researcher and linguist who is a senior lecturer at Makerere University in the school of languages.
Early life and education
Namyalo holds a PhD in Linguistics, Master of Arts (Luganda), postgraduate training in translation and interpretation and Bachelor of Arts in Education(Luganda & History).
Career
Namyalo is a senior lecturer in African languages in the School of Languages, Literature and Communication at Makerere University. Namyalo has authored and co-authored numerous scholarly articles and book chapters published in reputable journals and books in the field of Linguistics and African Languages. She has documented the art of barkcloth making among the Baganda, the disappearing legends of Banyala, compiled a bilingual-talking English-Ruruuli/Lunyala dictionary, a dictionary of Luganda proverbs and idioms, a dictionary of English-Luganda Linguistics dictionary and published a book on terminological modernization of Luganda in the field of linguistics among many others. In the Buganda Kingdom, she served as a minister of state where under the leadership of Nnaabagereka of Buganda she was part of the founders of a children's training camp "Ekisaakate" which aims at restoring family values, morals and customs among the Baganda.
