Plowshare (band)

Plowshare is a Catalan heavy metal band formed in 2002. The band has since released two studio albums, two singles and four music videos. They have also appeared in three Spanish compilations. The band sings both in English and in Catalan language.

History

2002 – Spring: Jordi Castells (Guitar), Joan Ramon Mulero (Guitar), Albert Arnaiz (Drums) and Guillem Tugues (Bass) formed Plowshare.

2003 – The first concerts of the band and the first own compositions.

2004 – Spring: Joan Ramon Mulero was interested in different type of music so he decided to leave the band after more than two years playing together. Plowshare remained as a trio until a new guitar player appeared. Juan Pedro Romero “Jota” (Guitar) joined the band during the summer. Their first 4-track demo Hard Dawn was recorded in December.

2006 – Plowshare got into the studio between February and March in order to record their first album Here comes the Plowman (10 tracks) in 12 days. May: Plowshare supported Ratos de Porao in Lleida, and was involved in a little pre-cd releasing tour. At the end of the year Plowshare signed up DISCMEDI in order to release Here comes the Plowman.

2007 – The most ambitious tour (30 concerts around the Spanish State) till the moment began in January. The band supported Tierra Santa and Napalm Death in Lleida and played at the Senglar Rock Festival with Sepultura. Also during the first half of the year the band finished all the songs of the second album.

2008 – Beginning of the year: Albert Arnaiz was replaced by Joaquin Castañ (Drums) and Aleix Duaigües for the recording of the second album. The studio sessions began at the end of March, due the change of the drummer. Mixed in summer time at Musiclan Studios (Figueres) and Mastered at Finnvox Studios (Finland). In October a contract was signed with DISCMEDI in order to release Life Must Disappear in November. From then on the new promotional tour began.

2009 – The band played in some festivals during the year (Canto Sense Vergonya, Agrònom de Ferro, PoblaRock 2009, etc), and supported Los Suaves in Lleida during the tour of the LMD album. A Spanish recompilation 'Metal Norte' was released the same year including two tracks of the Life must disappear CD. In summer the band finished some new songs with the idea of releasing a new single at the end of the year.
