The PBA tour's second event of 1961, the $75,000 National PBA Invitational, was held at Paramus Bowl, in Paramus, New Jersey. The first day of PBA competition was May 11, 1961. The competition ran until May 13, 1961. 48 bowlers cashed in this competition. Ray Lown, of Baltimore, MD, won his first career PBA title, and took home the first prize of $15,000. Rounding out the top 5 were Rich Robinette, Pat Patterson, Glenn Allison, and Ed Bourdase
