Miss Latin America 2002
Miss América Latina 2002 was the sixteenth international edition of the Miss América Latina contest, and the eighteenth overall. The final event was held on November 22, 2001 in Bávaro Beach, Dominican Republic. At the conclusion of the pageant, Claudia Cruz of the Dominican Republic was crowned by outgoing titleholder, Grace Martins of Brazil.

- Spain last participated in 1996 and Argentina last participated in 1998.
- Despite participating in 2001, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay failed to participate this year.
- Brazil and Colombia also placed in 2001.
- Countries that had not placed for a while were Argentina (1993), Costa Rica (1996), Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Nicaragua (2000).
- Dominican Republic's win was the country's third, tying them with Brazil for the most wins. It was also the second time a winner was crowned on home soil.
