Mila (company)

Mila is an international location-based mobile marketplace for tasks that allows people to find and purchase services, such as housekeeping and massage, from people in their neighborhood that are competent in providing such services. The peer-to-peer marketplace, such as TaskRabbit, allows people to search or ask for help to get tasks or errands done, or to buy services.

History

Mila was established in 2013 by Swiss-based technology company Coresystems, which specializes in building mobile platforms. In March 2013, the start-up announced that it had received 3 million Swiss Francs (US$3.22 million or €2.5 million) in funding from a consortium of private Swiss and German technology investors, including former SAP AG board member Peter Zencke and former Swisscom Mobile AG CEO Adrian Bult.

Locations

Mila has offices based in Zurich, Berlin, and Cluj-Napoca. It is announced that further funding will be used to expand the market in Indonesia and China.

Partnerships

In November 2013, the company partnered with Swiss telecom provider Swisscom to launch "Swisscom Friends", a support platform for service purchase. Since Swisscom has 5 million residential customers for internet access, digital TV services, and mobile telephone services, Swisscom Friends suppose to allow customers to hire technically competent person for problem troubleshooting, rather than directly involving Swisscom's technicians.

Mobile application

In May 2013, Mila released apps for Android and iPhone.
