The medal was established by law on 26 July 1993, alongside several other state medals of Armenia, including the Mkhitar Gosh Medal, Mkhitar Heratsi Medal, and Movses Khorenatsi Medal.
Award criteria
The medal is awarded to service members of the Armed Forces of Armenia, employees of the Ministries of Internal Affairs and National Security, the Department of Emergency Situations, and the Customs Service, as well as to other individuals, for courage displayed in defending the country, maintaining public order, and carrying out rescue operations or official duties under conditions dangerous to life.
