Matei Olaru

Matei Olaru is a Canadian entrepreneur and former lawyer. He is known as the founder of Your AI Department, an AI consultancy and the former CEO of Lift & Co.

Life and career

Olaru was born in Romania and later emigrated to Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University. Olaru later completed a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in Law at Western University.

He was a research fellow at Queen's School of Business in 2011 and later worked as a consultant with the World Bank before joining Stikeman Elliott in 2014. From 2016 to 2020, he was the CEO of Lift [...] Co. Ltd. (later Lift & Co. Corp.).

In February 2019, he established CannSell, an online [...] retail training and certification program developed with MADD Canada. CannSell became a mandatory [...] retail training program in Ontario, Canada, and was approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). In November 2019, he led the creation of a national partnership with Nielsen.

Olaru has been a member of the Young Presidents' Organization since 2018.
