Mark Hennen
Mark Hennen (born June 15, 1951 in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American jazz pianist.
Life and Work
Hennen studied at the University of Wisconsin and later had lessons with Cecil Taylor in Antioch and Bill Dixon at Bennington College. In New York City he had private lessons with Borah Bergman. In the late 1970s, he played with Jemeel Moondoc's ensemble Muntu (First Feeding, 1977), in the following two decades u. a. with William Hooker, with William Parker in Collective 4tet (with Jeff Hoyer and Heinz Geisser) and Alan Silva's Sound Visions Orchestra. In 1994, he released the album Theory of Everything with the drummer Toby Kasavan. In the 2000s, he collaborated with Daniel Carter, Chris Kelsey's Unacknowledged Ensemble, Rashid Bakr and the Earth People Formation. In the field of jazz, he was involved between 1977 and 2008 in 22 recording sessions. The duo with drummer Jackson Krall was born in late 2000.
