Marc Pierne

Marc Pierne (born February 2, 1983) is an American photographer.

Marc Pierne is a direct descendant of the composer Gabriel Pierne. Marc Pierne is the son of James G. Pierne and Georgia Lee Pierne. Marc's father, James, is the head of the board of Susquehanna Bank shares and sits as president of the Maryland Bankers. Formerly, James was recognized as Washington Counties Business "Man of the year." Georgia comes from an established military family and later was the Marketing Coordinator the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. She is also a former MSO guild President. Marc Pierne grew into an upper middle class family.

Early life

He spent most of his younger life around the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas before later moving to Hagerstown, Maryland. During his adolescence his artistic and poetic nature was nurtured through the guiding of his Family and influenced by the artwork of his grandmother, Mary Della Pierne, who was an oil painter. In his later youth (1999) he trained under the sharp photographic eye of Dale Swope in Hagerstown Maryland. -Dale Swope-(www.photographybydale.com) was a studio photographer and owner of Photography By Dale in Hagerstown Maryland for over 30 years (where Marc would later work in his college years). Marc's late adolescent mentor has won many national and international awards for his photographic works.

In 2000, Marc Pierne began to spend much time in New York City. Meeting up with such photographers and Jordan Price and Ralph Gibson. He also spent much time shooting in the NYU and ICP photography groups. In 2000 he also won honors in the State of Maryland's photographic contest. In 2001 Marc transferred to Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. This is where he began to study under the Los Angelus trained photographer Rick Bruner. Through his interaction of the Shepherd Art Staff Marc was also trained under the tutelage of Benita Keller- a former Photographer for USA Today. Other artist Marc Pierne studied under was Michael Mendez, Don Huni, Ronda Smith and the rest of the Shepherd staff. In 2001 Marc Pierne became a Staff Photographer at Photography By Dale in Hagerstown, Maryland. He also worked with Xceno multimedia (a small web based design agency). In 2003 Marc Pierne gained gallery representation by the Angora Gallery in Chelsea, New York City New York. In 2004 Marc Pierne is recognized for his work with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and won the NPPA Student Photography award. In 2005 Marc Pierne won the ICP Urban Photography Award. In 2006 Marc Pierne graduated from Shepherd University with a BFA in Photographer and Creative Imagery. In 2006 Xceno was adopted into New Media Inc. While this event was occurring Marc won the LPA (London Photographic Association's Golden Portfolio award in Photojournalism. In 2007 Marc Pierne was accepted to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa where he currently studies Multimedia Design. Currently, he is expanding his gallary portfolio and is resiging in Pittsburgh, PA working as a Photographer for the Pittsburgh Tribune.
