Manu George Mannamkunnel (born 9 May 1997), popularly known as Manu, is an Indian filmmaker, writer, actor, AI filmmaking educator, and creative professional from Keralam. His work spans independent cinema, digital storytelling, content creation, performance, and artificial intelligence-driven filmmaking. Through his films, Educational Initiatives, and technological innovations, he has established himself as a creative professional working at The Intersection of cinema and emerging technology.


Early Life and Education

Manu was born on 9 May 1997 in Malom, Pungamchal, in Kasaragod district, Keralam, India. From childhood, cinema was more than an interest—it was a lifelong passion. Fascinated by films, storytelling, and visual narratives, he spent much of his early years developing stories, writing scripts, and studying the art of filmmaking.

He completed his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree through Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and later earned a Bachelor of Philosophy (BPH) degree from Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, Bengaluru. His philosophical studies contributed to his interest in human emotions, character development, and meaningful storytelling.


Professional Journey

Before entering filmmaking full-time, Manu built a successful career in education, training, and organizational leadership.

He began his professional career as an ESL (English as a Second Language) Trainer at Britfort Academy, Kozhikode, where he taught Communicative English, Spoken English, and IELTS preparation programs. Alongside his responsibilities at the academy, he associated with Jintas Learning Solutions Pvt. Ltd. as a part-time faculty member, conducting online Spoken Malayalam courses for non-Malayalam speakers and helping learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds develop practical communication skills.

Driven by a passion for education and mentorship, Manu continued to expand his training experience across various platforms and institutions. Over the course of his teaching career, he has trained and mentored more than 5,000 students through classroom instruction, workshops, online programs, and professional development initiatives.

He later joined Jintas Learning Solutions Pvt. Ltd., as a full-time professional, where he gradually advanced into leadership positions, eventually serving as Human Resources Manager. During his tenure, he played an active role in developing organizational systems, workflow structures, operational strategies, and innovative practices that contributed to the company's growth and professional development. Alongside his management responsibilities, he became deeply involved in content creation, creative development, and media production. As a presenter, actor, content writer, trainer, and creative contributor, he appeared in more than 300 educational, marketing, training, and digital media productions across multiple platforms. Through this work, Manu became the public face of Jintas, particularly its Malayalam language-learning platform, Jintas Malayalam Classes. Through hundreds of educational videos, he contributed significantly to the channel's growth and popularity, helping a large number of students from different parts of India and various countries around the world learn Malayalam and connect with the language and culture of Keralam.


Passion for Cinema

Despite his achievements in education and corporate leadership, filmmaking remained the driving force behind Manu's professional journey.

From an early age, he consistently pursued opportunities to learn, practice, and experiment with cinematic storytelling. Over the years, he developed numerous original screenplays, story concepts, and visual narratives while continuing to refine his skills as a writer, actor, and director.

His creative work is characterized by a strong interest in human emotions, psychological themes, innovative storytelling techniques, and the exploration of emerging technologies in visual media.


Filmmaking Career

Manu's directorial works include the Malayalam psychological thriller short film Goodbye (2024), which marked an important milestone in his filmmaking career. The project demonstrated his commitment to independent cinema and long-form visual storytelling. He also directed and filmed the devotional music album Kripayude Nathan (2025), expanding his creative portfolio into music video production and faith-based visual media.

Beyond traditional filmmaking, he has directed and created numerous cinematic reels, short-form visual stories, promotional films, digital productions, and experimental AI-generated visual projects.

Several new creative projects are currently in various stages of development and production.


Artificial Intelligence and Cinema

Recognizing the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in visual storytelling, Manu became actively involved in researching and developing AI-assisted filmmaking techniques.

His work focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into concept development, screenplay visualization, image generation, video production, and post-production workflows. Through extensive experimentation, he has developed practical methods and creative workflows that enable filmmakers to combine traditional cinematic principles with emerging technologies.

His approach emphasizes the use of AI as a creative tool that enhances storytelling while preserving the artistic and emotional foundations of cinema.


Educator and Mentor

In addition to his filmmaking activities, Manu is actively involved in film education and professional training.

He has conducted numerous workshops, seminars, webinars, and masterclasses on AI filmmaking, digital storytelling, and creative technologies. These programs have introduced students, filmmakers, educators, and content creators to the possibilities of AI-assisted cinema.

He currently serves as the Head of the AI Filmmaking Department at Elements of Cinema Film School, where he teaches aspiring filmmakers and creative professionals the evolving relationship between cinema, storytelling, and artificial intelligence.
