Ludovico Iurlaro
Ludovico Iurlaro (born 21 March 2007) is an Italian taekwondo practitioner. Competing in the men's 63 kg division, Iurlaro won the bronze medal at the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships. At the European U21 Taekwondo Championships, he won the gold medal in 2025 and the bronze medal in 2024.
Career
Iurlaro represented Italy in international tournaments from the youth age categories onward. In 2021, he won bronze medals in the cadet category at the Albania Open and the Croatia Open. In 2023, he won gold medals in the 55 kg event at the Italian Junior Championships and the Olympic Dream Cup. The same year, he won bronze in the juniors' 55 kg event at the Bulgaria Open and gold at the Austria Open.
In 2024, Iurlaro won gold medals in the 63 kg event at the Italian Junior Championships and the Olympic Dream Cup. The same year, he won the juniors' 63 kg event at the European Clubs Championships in Tirana. At the 2024 European U21 Taekwondo Championships held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, he won the bronze medal in the 63 kg event. During the tournament, he defeated Maksim Bandarevich, Iosif Flouris, Maksim Molchan and Stanislav Mitkov to reach the semi-finals, where he lost 2–1 to fellow Italian athlete Dennis Baretta and finished third.
In 2025, Iurlaro won bronze medals in the 63 kg event at the Dutch Open in Eindhoven and the Spanish Open in Alicante. At the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships in Wuxi, China, he competed in the men's 68 kg event. He defeated Norway's Niklas Kristiansen Oğuz 2–0 in the first round, before losing 2–0 to China's Diao Lixingjun in the round of 32.
In December 2025, Iurlaro won the gold medal in the men's 63 kg event at the 2025 European U21 Taekwondo Championships held in Pristina, Kosovo. During the tournament, he defeated Croatia's Jan Flegar, Cyprus's Ionas Georgiou, Montenegro's Vasilije Nestorović, Greece's Alexios Nikolaidis and Ukraine's Samir Mirzoiev to reach the final. In the final, he beat Turkey's Hamza Osman Aydoğan to become European U21 champion.
In 2026, Iurlaro won the bronze medal in the men's 63 kg event at the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships held in Munich, Germany. He defeated Portugal's Dmytriy Agapov in the round of 32, Alban Ernest Merdanaj in the round of 16 and Ukraine's Samir Mirzoiev 2–0 in the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals. He lost 2–0 to Norway's Kristian Storsul Borgen in the semi-finals and finished third at the championships.
