Luca Lampariello

Luca Lampariello is an Italian hyperpolyglot. He is fluent in 12 languages.

Early life

Lampariello started learning English at school, because it was seen as a world language, but struggled with this until his family hired a tutor. He also studied French, watching films to assist. German was his next language, which he did studied independently. He has lived in Paris, Italy and Barcelona and provides instruction to people learning languages with his blog and YouTube videos, which provide guidance on learning English as a second language.

Languages

In addition to his native Italian, Lamparieallo has learned English, French, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Spanish, Polish and Mandarin

Theories

Lamparieallo believes that living in a country where a language is spoken is not necessary to master it, and believes in the use of multimedia to learn a language, and that learning AbOUT and engaging with a country's culture assists in this process. He believes that languages cannot be taught, but must be learned: It is not an academic subject as such, but a skill. Making mistakes are an essential part of this learning process. His two core principles are: expansion (expanding our knowledge by exposure) and refinement (considering the mistakes made and then correcting them). Lamparieallo believes that the new language must be used in multiple contexts, that learners should avoid using their native language as much as possible and stick to no more than two textbooks.
