Lesley Kühr
Lesley Kühr aka YOGISP (born 3 july, 1976, Heerhugowaard, the Netherlands) is a Dutch artist/songwriter/producer and bassplayer. As a self-taught little kid he learned how to play while hanging out in the local Amsterdam music scene. Lesley was soon discovered as very talented by colleague musicians and from there on he began to play with well known artists such as Holland's most popular vocalist Trijntje Oosterhuis. He also joined a very divers scale of international artists as Prince¹s saxplayer Candy Dulfer, King of dub Lee 'Scratch' Perry from Jamaica the most recorded and sampled Jazz drummer Bernard Purdie, Brazilian Bossa princess Cibelle and trance DJ Ferry Corsten. In the meanwhile YOGISP developed himself as a songwriter/producer. His approach to playing the bass is similar to his production work; it's crazy, intense, but well thought out.
He is best known for being the touring and recording bassist for the last 5 years (2002-2007) for the original 'Brazilectro' group ZUCO 103, which tours all over the world.
He lives both in Amsterdam and New York City to produce his new project called LEILOLAI together with alternative Latin artist Christina Cáceres
Equipment
Kühr uses mostly Höfner 500/1 reissue Bass, Danelectro Longhorn 1959, and sometimes uses Tokai Precision Bass while touring. He also plays Moog synthbasses and Korg MS-20. He plays Ampeg amplifiers and Elixir Strings.
