Roald Blijleven

Roald Blijleven (born 1983) is a contemporary artist living and working in the Netherlands. His subject-matter ranges from glitches in the texture of reality, nice spots with water and/or trees to intellectually perversity and psychedelic creatures. He works with computers, televisions, synthesizers, scanners, printers, wrecked guitars, milkcans, closet-doors, lightbulbs. He has created paintings, short films, animations, music, (digital and analog) drawings, minimalist sculpture, graffiti, websites, digital music, poetry, prose and other writings, photos and photo-montage, and theatre. He is directing a play with a local theatre group, 'Ouwe Jongens, Krentebroob' and is collaborating with artist Erik Hendriks and redesigning his website.

Blijleven was born on August 9, 1983 in a small Dutch village called Pijnacker. He started seriously making drawings when he was AbOUT 11 years old. There's a photograph of him at age 4-5 where he escaped from his cot, put on his mother's shoes and smeared lipstick all over his body.
