Lamont Harris Jr.

Lamont Harris Jr. is an American mortgage executive and entrepreneur. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Harris Capital Mortgage Group, a mortgage company based in Las Vegas, Nevada. He founded the company in 2019.

Education and early career

Harris studied film and theater at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. While attending the university, he sold merchandise and became acquainted with a mortgage broker who introduced him to the lending industry. He subsequently pursued a career in mortgage origination.

Mortgage industry career

Harris began his mortgage career in the mid-2000s. According to his Association of Independent Mortgage Experts biography, he worked as a loan officer at Apex Financial in Maryland in 2005.

After working in the industry through the Great Recession, Harris established Harris Capital Mortgage Group in 2019. In a 2023 interview with Mortgage Professional America, he described how his experience during the financial crisis influenced his approach to business relationships, company growth, and long-term sustainability.

Harris has also provided commentary on the Las Vegas Valley housing market. In 2024, Mortgage Professional America interviewed him AbOUT housing supply, mortgage rates, and demand in the region.

Other activities

In January 2018, the United Premier Soccer League identified Harris as the owner of Summerlin Red Rocks FC when announcing the club's addition to its Nevada Conference.

In February 2025, HousingWire identified Harris as chief growth officer of the Black Mortgage Professional Alliance, an organization supporting Black professionals in the mortgage and real estate industries through access, resources, advocacy, and professional support.

Recognition

Harris was included in the 2023 Mortgage Global 100, published by Mortgage Professional America and its sister publications. That year, he was also named a Hall of AIME inductee by the Association of Independent Mortgage Experts.
