Jordy Verrill

Jordy Verrill is a fictional character from the cult horror movie Creepshow who appears in that film's second segment, "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill." The doomed protagonist is played by horror novelist Stephen King in his acting debut.

Jordy, a backwoods farmer, discovers a meteor in his backyard and comes up with an idea to sell it for cash, so he can pay off his lumbering debt. However he accidentally breaks it when he pours water On It, and this green stuff oozes out which (unbeknowst to Jordy) produces moss on everything it touches. Jordy curses his bad luck, but decides to keep it, as it might be repairable.

Unfortunately, Jordy himself has touched the meteor in order to remove it from the crater in which he found it. To make matters worse, after the meteor apparently burned his hand, he had routinely sucked on his fingers to ease the pain, causing the growth to begin in his mouth as well.

Jordy initially considers calling a doctor, but imagines that the doctor would have to amputate his fingers and decides against it.

As the growth continues, Jordy begins to itch uncontrollably, and fills himself a tub of water to wash the moss off. Jordy receives a vision from his late father, who tells him that jumping in the tub would be [...]. Jordy counters that he will die anyway, and jumps in.

In the morning, Jordy is a fully grown [...]/human hybrid. Reaching for a shotgun, he aims for his head and prays that his luck will be in, just this once, and fires.
