Old Chief Wood'nhead

Old Chief Wood'nhead is a fictional statue of a wooden Indian warrior, who is the titular character in "Old Chief Wood'nhead", the first segment of the cult horror movie Creepshow 2.

The Native chief stands outside a general cigar store in a run down desert town, where its proud owners Ray and Martha Spruce (George Kennedy and the late Dorothy Lamour) struggle to meet ends meet. One day they are besieged and murdered by three robbers: Sam Whitemoon, Fatso Gribbens and Andy Cavanaugh, who steal all their money, as well as the valuable jewels Sam's father Benjamin left to the shop, as a generous act of compensation.

One by one, all three are hunted down and killed by Old Chief Wood'nhead, as an act of revenge. Deaths include a volley of arrows sent through Fatso, an axe job on Andy and then the scalping of Sam's head.

At the end of the story, Benjamin visits Old Chief Wood'nhead to say a final farewell, perhaps as a thank you for punishing those who carried out such a bad deed.
