Jordan Kyros

Jordan Kyros (born 24 February 1992) is an Australian ice hockey player currently playing for the Perth Thunder in the Australian Ice Hockey League.

Playing career

Kyros first played for the West Coast Flyers of the Western Australian Super League (WASL) in 2009. The following year he moved to Finland and signed with UJK U18. Kyros competed for UJK 18 in both the Jr. B I-divisioona Q and the Jr. B II-divisioona before moving up to the UJK U20 team. In 2011 Kyros was loaned to Kiekko-67 of the 2. Divisioona league. He competed in 13 games for Kiekko-67, recording three points. During the season he also played for ParSport U20 where he competed in the Jr. A III-divisioona. Following the end of the season Kyros returned to Australia and re-signed with the West Coast Flyers. He played 15 games for the season and recorded 25 points as well as two goals in the playoff final. Kyros returned to Finland for the start of the 2011-12 season and signed with EHC U20 of the Jr. A I-divisioona league. He also competed for the clubs second team, EHC/2 U20, which play in the Jr. A III-divisioona. Kyros finished the 2011-12 season with EHC and returned to Australia where he signed with the newly formed Perth Thunder of the Australian Ice Hockey League for the 2012 season.

Kyros was first called-up to represent Australia in 2009 where he joined the national under-18 team to compete in the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championship Division III Group A tournament being held in Taipei, Chinese Taipei. Australia finished first gaining promotion to Division II for the following year while Kyros recorded two goals and four assists during the tournament. He again represented the national under-18 team at the World Championships in 2010 before being moved up to the national under-20 team for the 2011 IIHF World U20 Championship Division II Group B tournament. Australia finished fifth in the tournament while Kyros recorded two points in his five games. He again represented the under-20 team at the 2012 IIHF World U20 Championships where he was named team captain. Kyros was also selected for the national senior team to compete in the 2012 IIHF World Championship Division I Group B tournament being held in Krynica, Poland. Australia finished last and were relegated to Division II Group A for the following year while Kyros failed to record any points during the tournament.

Kyros was born on 24 February 1992 in Perth, Western Australia, Australia. He first started playing ice hockey at age eight.
